A CCTV camera (closed-circuit television camera) captures video for monitoring and recording; in modern installations it is an IP camera that streams over the network to an NVR, a phone app or the cloud. Xingliao, founded in 2014 in Shenzhen with 110 staff, manufactures IP and Wi-Fi cameras for OEM buyers, including outdoor, PTZ and solar models.

  • Range: indoor, outdoor, PTZ, solar and battery versions
  • Integration: ONVIF and RTSP for NVR recording
  • Branding: firmware, app and cloud branding for your market
  • Compliance: CE, FCC, RoHS, UKCA certification support

A security camera programme fails or succeeds on three decisions made before the first sample: how the camera is powered, where the footage is stored, and what the buyer's market legally allows you to record. Get those right and the rest — resolution, lens angle, app features — is a matter of choosing from a mature supply chain. Get one wrong and you ship a product that installers refuse to fit.

XingLiao manufactures Wi-Fi, 4G and solar security cameras in Shenzhen for brands and distributors. We build on 172 existing platforms across 16 categories, which means most private-label projects start from a proven board and enclosure rather than a blank sheet. That is why our sampling window is 7 to 15 days instead of a quarter.

Camera specifications we build to

Parameter Standard build What it means commercially
Resolution 2 MP / 3 MP / 4 MP / 5 MP 4 MP is the current value sweet spot; 2 MP still wins on price-driven tenders
Power Mains, battery, or solar-assisted battery Battery and solar open up sites with no wiring at all
Connectivity Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, or 4G LTE with SIM 4G is the only option for farms, gates and construction sites
Night vision IR cut filter, up to 10 m; full-colour night mode on selected models Full colour sells well but needs either a spotlight or ambient light
Field of view Fixed lens or PTZ with pan/tilt PTZ adds a motor, a failure point, and a higher price
Detection PIR motion, human-shape AI, vehicle detection Human-shape filtering is the feature that actually reduces false alerts
Storage microSD up to 256 GB, cloud, or NVR Cloud is recurring revenue; SD is what most retail buyers expect
Audio Two-way talk, built-in mic and speaker Speaker quality is the most common complaint in reviews
Ingress rating IP65 for outdoor models Indoor models skip the sealing and cost less
App Tuya, or white-label app with your branding App stability matters more to reviews than resolution

Power: the decision that defines your channel

Mains-powered cameras are the cheapest to build and the most reliable to run, but they need an electrician. That restricts them to homes and shops where the buyer is willing to install. In practice mains cameras dominate in Europe and North America, where outdoor sockets and eaves are common.

Battery cameras remove the installer entirely. The buyer screws a bracket to a wall and downloads an app. This is what makes them the default for e-commerce and for gifting. The trade-off is battery life: aggressive motion detection can drain a cell in six weeks, and a camera that needs charging every month earns bad reviews. We specify battery capacity against a defined daily trigger count rather than quoting a best-case number.

Solar-assisted battery cameras solve that for sites with no power and no internet — gate entrances, farmland, holiday cabins. Paired with a 4G module they are genuinely independent infrastructure. That is a different buyer: a farm supplier or a construction distributor, not a consumer retailer. If you are building that line, our solar outdoor camera range is the starting point.

Where footage lives, and why it is a legal question

Storage is usually discussed as a cost decision, but for any camera sold into Europe it is a compliance decision. Footage of a public footpath or a shared driveway is personal data under GDPR, and where that data is stored determines which rules apply to your customer. A cloud service with servers in one jurisdiction may be unacceptable to a buyer in another.

Our practical advice to brand owners: offer local microSD storage as the default, offer cloud as an opt-in subscription, and publish clearly which region the cloud servers sit in. Cameras sold to German and Dutch buyers in particular get returned when the privacy story is vague.

There is also a hard procurement rule in some markets. United States federal projects and some contractors require NDAA-compliant equipment. If your channel includes government or defence-adjacent buyers, confirm the requirement before quoting — retrofitting compliance after tooling is not possible.

Deployment patterns we build for

  • Single-camera home entry: Wi-Fi, 4 MP, two-way talk, SD card. Sold as one box, installed in ten minutes.
  • Multi-camera home system: four cameras plus an NVR, sold as a kit with a single app account. Higher ticket, higher support burden.
  • Small retail: fixed-lens cameras covering till and door, with cloud backup because the footage has commercial value.
  • Remote site monitoring: 4G solar cameras on a data plan, sold through agricultural or construction channels.
  • Entrance monitoring with two-way talk: often better served by a video doorbell than a camera, because the visitor presses something and the owner gets a call.

Private label scope and volumes

Standard cameras with your logo, colour and packaging start at 500 pieces per colour. That covers housing colour, lens bezel, boot logo, retail box and manual. Firmware-level changes — your own app name, custom detection behaviour, a branded voice prompt — start around 3,000 to 5,000 pieces, and new enclosure tooling runs 25 to 40 days.

Camera programmes take longer than switch programmes to stabilise, because firmware QA is measured in weeks, not days. Budget for a firmware freeze before mass production, and insist on a pilot batch of 200 to 500 units before committing to a container. We support that sequencing rather than pushing a full run.

Buyers building a complete line usually pair cameras with motion sensors, a router or mesh unit for whole-home coverage, and door and window sensors for perimeter coverage.

Certification

Cameras carry radio, EMC, safety and, in some markets, privacy-sector requirements. We build to CE and RoHS for Europe, UKCA for Great Britain, FCC for the United States, and PSE for Japan. Battery-powered models additionally need UN38.3 transport documentation and, for air freight, the correct battery state-of-charge declaration. Missing paperwork is the most common reason a camera shipment is held at the port, and it is entirely avoidable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What resolution should I stock?

4 MP for retail, where buyers compare spec sheets. 2 MP for price-driven tenders and for 4G models, where the data cost of higher resolution is passed to the end user every month.

Battery or mains?

Battery if you sell online to consumers who will not hire an electrician. Mains if your channel is installers, projects, or small business. Many distributors carry both once they understand the split.

Can I put my own app on the camera?

Yes. We ship either on the Tuya platform or on a white-label app with your brand. The white-label route costs more and takes longer; it makes sense once you have volume and a support team.

How do you handle firmware updates after shipping?

Updates are pushed over the air. For private-label clients we maintain a separate firmware branch so a change requested by one client never reaches another client's devices.

What is the real minimum order?

500 pieces per colour on an existing platform. Below that the mould amortisation and firmware setup cost more than the margin supports.

Do you supply NVR kits as well?

Yes, matched NVRs and multi-camera kits are available, including PoE configurations for installer-led channels.

What about NDAA compliance?

Tell us at enquiry stage if your channel requires it. Compliance is a component and supply-chain decision made before tooling, not a document produced afterwards.
