A smart home gateway is the device that decides whether a smart home feels reliable or falls apart. It pairs the sensors, runs the automations, and — critically — keeps local scenes working when the internet does not. XingLiao manufactures Zigbee 3.0 gateways and hubs for security brands, smart home distributors and private-label customers who need a stable foundation under their device ecosystem.
If you are building a product line rather than selling a single gadget, the gateway is the piece worth getting right first: it determines which sensors and switches you can add later, and whether your customers’ automations survive a router reboot.
Three jobs, in order of importance. First, protocol translation — Zigbee or RF devices speak to the hub, and the hub speaks to the cloud and your phone. Second, local automation — scenes stored on the hub run without any internet connection, so “door opens, light turns on” still works at 3am during an outage. Third, device management — pairing, battery status, firmware updates and grouping for 100+ sub-devices.
Cheap hubs skip the second job and push everything through the cloud. That is the single most common cause of “my smart home stopped working” reviews, and it is why we insist on local scene execution.
Our default platform. Mesh networking means each mains-powered device extends the network, so coverage grows as the installation grows. Typical capacity is 100+ sub-devices with 20–35 m indoor range between mesh nodes. Supports sensors, switches, locks, curtains and scene switches on one app.
Zigbee plus RF 433/868 MHz in one unit, for buyers who need to bridge legacy alarm sensors and RF remotes into a modern app. This is the most requested configuration for retrofit projects and for markets with a large installed base of RF devices.
For industrial and light-commercial buyers: Modbus, RS485 or BLE-to-IP bridging with MQTT or API output, so building data reaches a dashboard or BMS. Higher unit price, much smaller volumes, but very sticky customers.
Hubs with a built-in speaker or touch panel that double as a control interface and a voice assistant endpoint. These are increasingly used as the centrepiece of a branded starter kit.
WiFi sensors are convenient but they consume more power, load the router, and usually lose automation when the connection drops. A Zigbee hub costs more upfront but delivers three things buyers actually feel: battery life measured in years rather than months, automations that survive an outage, and one app that controls everything instead of six apps that each control one thing. For any installation beyond four or five devices, the hub wins.
Private-label MOQ starts at 100 units for standard platforms. Because a gateway usually ships as part of a starter kit, we can bundle hubs, sensors and switches in one shipment with matched branding and packaging.
It controls Tuya-ecosystem devices reliably, which covers a very large share of the market. Outside that ecosystem, ONVIF cameras and standard Zigbee 3.0 devices generally pair, but full functionality is not guaranteed — always test your specific device list before a volume order.
Yes on our standard platforms — scenes are stored on the hub. App remote control and push notifications require internet, but local triggers and linked actions do not.
Typically 80–150 depending on platform. In practice, mains-powered devices that act as mesh routers let you support more sub-devices than battery-only ones.
