Integrators resell, install and support what we build, so the things that matter are different from what an end customer asks about. You need to know whether a device will join your platform before you buy it, whether firmware will stay stable across a shipment, and what happens when 3% of a batch fails after a year.
Cameras are straightforward — ONVIF and RTSP are mature and we support both. Sensors and alarms are where integration friction lives, because there is no equivalent standard for "door opened" or "water detected". In practice you integrate at one of three levels:
| Level | What you get | Effort |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud-to-cloud API | Events and control through the platform API | Lowest; depends on internet |
| Local gateway API / SDK | LAN-level events, works offline | Medium; needs a developer |
| Matter bridge | Standard exposure to third-party ecosystems | Lowest for ecosystems, limited device types |
Tell us which level you are integrating at and we will confirm what is exposed before you commit. This is the single most common source of disappointment in this category, and it is entirely avoidable with one question.
A repeat order should behave like the first one. We lock firmware versions per shipment and notify you before a change, because a silent firmware update that alters event payloads will break your integration. If you need a frozen version for a deployed estate, say so and we will hold it.
We hold CE, FCC, RoHS and UKCA on our standard platforms, with test reports per shipment. If you are selling into a market we have not approved for, that is a conversation before tooling, not after production — a shipment that cannot be legally sold is not a problem we can fix retroactively.
Plan for field failures as a percentage, not an exception. We ship spare units with project orders at an agreed ratio, and replacement units go out before the faulty ones come back for distributed projects where site uptime matters. Ask for the DOA and RMA terms in writing at enquiry — a supplier without a defined RMA process is describing a shop, not a factory.
If you need a fully open, self-hosted firmware stack you can modify at will, our platforms are not built for that. And if your volumes are below 500 units per model with custom firmware, the economics will not work for either of us — standard products with your branding are the right starting point.
